Security cameras have become almost a ubiquitous part of modern society. They have been extremely useful in recording crimes and misconduct for use as evidence by law enforcement officers and private security personnel.

While modern technology allows new cameras to become smaller, even the smallest security cameras currently available lack pan, tilt, and zoom features. The resolution of the smallest versions currently available can also be quite poor.

Security cameras with these features are excessively large and disrupt the design and decor of the space the camera is to survey. The goal of the MiniPTZ is to fill the gap between size and features, while minimally disrupting the design of the area under surveillance.

A variety of models are under development with several features for different uses and conditions. In the private sector, elaborate wall designs and decorative art, such as those found in casinos, retail outlets, and shopping malls, will not be disrupted by large black ovals.

Pan, tilt, and 216x total zoom allow a large area to be monitored while reducing the number of cameras needed, which reduces costs as well as simplifying security procedures. Law enforcement officers, particularly in prisons and jails, will find the features of the MiniPTZ useful for monitoring large crowds and housing units.
