Please direct any corespondence to this new address.
5-7-2003 Welcome to MiniPTZ Surveillance Inc.
MiniPTZ Surveillance has now been officially incorporated in the state of California. The agent for service of process for this new company is the MiniPTZ founder and inventor Christopher J. Wheeler. MiniPTZ Surveillance Inc. has been founded to develop and market the MiniPTZ technology and product line. Camera development is ongoing, and the final product now seems to be within site.
3-19-2003 Initial Production Design Complete
Unfortunately progress has been somewhat slower than expected. The design for the production model prototype has been completed and drawings have been released to production. This prototype should be completed within the next two to three weeks. This will allow for more advanced testing, as well as live product demonstrations. Several people have shown interest in seeing this product in action, but if you would like to be added to the list you can e-mail Chris Wheeler at cwheeler@miniptz.com. Videos taken from the latest prototypes will soon be available on this web site to demonstrate image quality. Additionally, the first steps have been begun to prepare and file patent applications, so that when the testing is complete the product will be ready for production.
5-24-2002 Second Generation Prototype
A second non-automated prototype was built, however this one was at full scale. This model does fit in the requisite one-inch diameter dome. This design has performed well, allowing the intricacies of miniature camera design to be explored. The next development task is to optimize this camera for premium video quality, as well as designing the tilting and panning mechanisms.
4-20-2002 First Generation Prototype
Results of first generation prototype testing have been very promising. For these first tests a working camera was built that would fit in a dome three inches in diameter. This prototype is almost one half the size of current cameras on the market, and it performed just as expected. This design was not automated, however each of the camera's functions (panning, tilting, and zooming) operated flawlessly, and the design is now being modified to fit in the smaller one inch diameter dome.
3-26-2002 Specification Goals
Specification goals have been set. They are available on the Product page. These goals are set forth in order to ensure that this new camera will maintain performance comparable to existing camera models, while fitting into the smallest package possible. Each of these factors represent the minimum requirements for each camera specification. The final product may surpass some or all of these conditions, however it will meet each of them.
3-21-2002 Initial Market Survery
Sixty-two e-mail messages were sent to various industry experts ranging from CCTV installers, sales representatives, distributors, and manufacturers. These messages included an overview of our design concepts and a request for comments and questions. Of these, responses were received from approximately half of them. Every response was positive, with most of them requesting to see a working prototype as soon as possible. The feedback provided from these e-mails have allowed specification goals to be established, pricing and cost structures to be estimated and the profitability of this project to be evaluated.
3-20-2002 Concept Inception
Theory for technology is envisioned to create a new panning, tilting, and zooming closed circuit television camera that utilizes a dome less than one inch in diameter. Research has been begun into the market, equipment, and specifications that will need to be considered for this project.
